This has been a life saver for our infant girl's bath time!
We made a dedicated soap for the use of our infant daughter… using breast milk from her mother to create the most gentle and nutrient dense bath time regime. My experience growing up with toxic cosmetics only left me with worse skin and hormones and I am dedicated to giving my daughter the same experience as our customers - beautiful, healthy skin with simple, organic ingredients only soap
Years ago, before I started making and selling tallow soap, I dealt with stubborn skin issues like blackheads and back acne. I spent hundreds of dollars a year on what I thought at the time was an effective skincare regimen: toners, nose strips, acids, moisturizers, “#1 dermatologist face washes.” Yet, every single one yielded mediocre results - My breakthrough came through simplification rather than addition, along with the realization that synthetic ingredients are the worst thing you can do not just for your skin but for your health.
If I cannot eat it, or feed it to my baby girl, why would I put on my skin?
As a father, the only person whose health I prioritize over my own is my infant daughter. Her delicate skin and body weren’t made for a world where synthetic fragrances and preservatives run rampant. What makes our soap unique is the addition of leftover breast milk, which not only helps saponify the oils but adds remarkable benefits for the skin. We’ve seen firsthand how topical breast milk soothes scrapes and dry patches on our baby’s skin.

Ingredients:
- 25.6 oz beef tallow
- 6.4 oz olive oil
- For the lye
- 4.6 oz sodium hydroxide
- 5.3 oz distilled water
- (10.3 oz if not using milk)
- 5 oz frozen breast milk
Equipment
- Immersion Blender
- Heat safe pot
- Heat safe mixing bowls
- Soap molds
- Silicone spatula
- Steel spoon
- Thermometer
- Scale
- Gloves
- Apron
- Safety goggles
- Vinegar (to neutralize the lye in case of spills)
Follow these steps
- Melt your beef tallow and olive oil in a heat-safe pot. Once fully melted, let cool to 110 - 120º. Set it to the side for now.
- In a well-ventilated area (preferably outside), carefully combine the weighed out sodium hydroxide with distilled water. Initial fumes will dissipate after 5-10 minutes.
After that you can bring it back to your work area.
Once the lye mixture cools below 160°F, incorporate the frozen milk, stirring gently to combine. No fumes will be released here.
Add the lye mixture to your oils (from step 1) and blend with an immersion blender for 5-7 minutes until reaching trace consistency. (when the mixture leaves a visible trail on the surface).
Pour into molds and let set for 24 hours. Once set, remove from molds and cure in a clean, well-ventilated area for 4 weeks.
*Important safety reminders*
- Caution: the mixture will be very hot. If you are only using water, you may use the full amount.
- Important: Always add lye to water, never water to lye.
